Lyrics
Peace on Earth. Merry Christmas written by Bob Nicholson 2005 Hyde Music, ASCAP It was late one December just a few days before Christmas A small village of eighty two on top of the hills of West Virginia Everyone was getting ready for the holiday coming All around people were smiling and children were singing everywhere. In one very short second, a blast shook the town and filled the air The smell of death and destruction reminded the town again That twenty one miners were all trapped down below and helpless Theyll be no Christmas this year and no tomorrow for this town, Merry Christmas and peace on the earth A town is crying, cant you hear our pleas A child is born to set us free Christ is King, our Lord In a rush and panic all calls went out, please help us save our men Theyre trapped down below and no one has ever gotten out from below the main The smell of methyl was omnipresent; no chance of living was given Four days have passed and still no sound, its too dangerous for us to get around A man and his wife had pulled into town looking for a room There was no place to stay was all they said, just go away Cant you see we lost our own men cried the mother tearfully But an old man allowed them to stay in his barn until the next day Merry Christmas and peace on the earth A town is crying, cant you hear our pleas A child is born to set us free Christ is King, our Lord As the evening past, time was running out, the air in there was no more The miners fate was sure to pass, when the man had said to the people above Think of peacen goodwill to all on earth together As the voices were heard, all were rescued and a baby was born Merry Christmas and peace on the earth A town is crying, cant you hear our pleas A child is born to set us free Christ is King, our Lord
