Lyrics
'Forgotten Friend'
I'm your forgotten friend
I'm your passing thought
I'm the one you couldn't keep
Though you thought you could
I'm the missing link
I'm your family time
I'm the broken past
Way down the line
So I pass the hours
Look to the gate
Who comes for me this day?
Who will turn my fate?
Who needs a friend?
My loyal love?
Where loneliness ends
There is God above
Now I have food to eat
And a place to stay
And those I meet
Don't turn me away
But I need to know
I will always be
Right by your side
Won't you care for me?
I'm a forgotten friend
I'm a lonely boy
The one you bought
Like a childhood toy
I'm the cheeky girl
Who grew up too tall
I'm the cherished one
You forgot to call
I'm the furniture
You replace with wear
In the shadows now
You don't know I'm there
I'm the chosen one
You chose to give up
I'm a big boy now
Not a tiny pup
I'm the waste of space
The messy mutt
The vets bill walking
And I'm down on my luck
Won't you spare a thought
For the ones like me
The ones who can't talk
Who will forever be
A number in the pound
Cast out but never homeward bound
A forgotten friend
Yours in loyalty, in friendship
To the end, to the end
I'm your forgotten friend
I'm your passing thought
I'm the one you couldn't keep
Though you thought you could
I'm the missing link
I'm your family time
I'm the broken past
Way down the line...
I'm your forgotten friend

What a profound lyrisist you are, to give your all and share these words with such emo & expression! Everytime l hear this song l get chills from head to toe, reminds me of a verse in the good book, a prayer that asks that we be able to grasp mentally and spiritually, the height, the depth, the width & the breadth of Gods love for us. You stay shining friend, you have touched us (the critical masses, the grey mice, the forgotten friends) to the very core of our soul here, profound! "Your a big boy now" l'm the furniture, the wasted space" what depth in your lyrics Maria. l certainly will never forget you my unforgotten friend. This is simply too touching to ever forget, your delivery and really the first two chords had me, then you seemed to have totally caught the heart & soul of this listener. & What Vocals!! you have heard all this b4 l am sure, but it still feels really good to be able to thank you personally, and to hear you for free again?? tysm, this is, beyond my under
