A Hard rocking celebration of lyrical cliche's !

Story behind the song
When it comes to lyrics, most seasoned songwriters try very hard to avoid cliche's. Lines like "gonna walk out that door",
"forget my foolish pride", "can't get enough of your love", and "still be lovin' you" may have sounded fresh at one time,
but at this point have been done to death. Of course, Lionel Richie made a career out of cliche's but that's another
story. Anyway, good songwriters are always trying to find fresh, slightly unique ways of saying the same old thing.
Well, this song blows off that sensiblilty completely.
Except for the chorus, every single line in "That Was Deep" is a cliche' (intentional, of course). See how many of them you recognize, or perhaps
even use ! Don't feel bad if some of these tried and true word combos escape your lips every now and again. They slowly seep into our
collective psyches through cultural osmosis. So, are we on the same page? Cool. Remember, he who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones.
Unless, of course, you don't mind the pot calling the kettle black.
Lyrics
THAT WAS DEEP
©2005 Michael D. Renneker www.rennsongs.com
Follow your dreams, grab the brass ring
a journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step
seize the day, where there's a will there's a way
grab the bull by the horns, you gotta make the grade
live in the moment, shoot for the moon
go for what you know, you've got nothin' to lose
today is the first say of the rest of your life
so stick to your guns and keep your eye on the prize
chorus
well that was deep man, say it again
I wanna write it down this time
yeah that was deep man, say it again
I wanna remember that line for the rest of my life
'cause that was deep
yeah that was deep
What's up with that?, there's a bump in the road
gotta fight tooth and nail when it's touch and go
look on the bright side the ball's in your court
gotta take it all with a grain of salt
don't worry, be happy, tomorrow's another day
so just hang in there we're on the same page
that which doesn't kill you only makes you strong
and when the going gets tough, the tough get going
chorus
I'm a day late and a dollar short
you snooze, you lose
I'm at the end of my rope
Looks like I bit off more than I could chew
I see the writing on the wall
whatever shall I do
This too shall pass, life goes on, live and learn
start back at square one, don't let your bridges burn
Let bygones be bygones, it's just par for the course
don't cry over spilled milk or beat a dead horse
chorus
